Blast Furnace Recipe

Ingredients:

– Iron ore (can be hematite, magnetite, or taconite) – Coke (a type of coal) – Limestone Equipment: – Blast furnace – Charging equipment (like a skip hoist or conveyor belt) – Tuyeres (nozzles through which air is blown into the furnace) – Hot blast stove (to preheat the air before it enters the furnace) – Tap hole (to remove molten iron) – Slag hole (to remove slag)

Preheat the blast furnace by igniting the coke in the hearth and preheating the air using the hot blast stove.

Load the iron ore, coke, and limestone into the furnace through the charging equipment.

The coke acts as a fuel and reduces the iron ore to iron, while also providing heat for the chemical reactions.

Air is blown into the furnace through the tuyeres, increasing the temperature and aiding the reduction process.

The molten iron collects at the bottom of the furnace and is periodically tapped off through the tap hole.

The slag, which floats on top of the molten iron, is periodically removed through the slag hole.
