In a saucepan, combine 1 part sugar with 4 parts water. For example, if you use 1 cup of sugar, mix it with 4 cups of water.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir the mixture until the sugar completely dissolves. This usually takes a few minutes. Do not let the mixture boil.
Once the sugar is dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the nectar to cool to room temperature.
Once the nectar has cooled, carefully pour it into your feeder designed for orioles. Make sure the feeder is clean before adding the nectar.
Place the filled feeder in a location where orioles are likely to visit. Ideally, hang it from a tree branch or hook at least 5 to 6 feet off the ground.
Check the feeder regularly to ensure it stays clean and filled with fresh nectar. In warmer weather, nectar may spoil more quickly, so check it more frequently.
Once your feeder is set up, sit back and enjoy watching the orioles visit your yard. Be patient, as it may take a few days for the birds to discover the feeder.
